Liz Barnes: Celebrating 5 Years at Cascade

As a Community Engagement Specialist with Cascade since 2018, Liz has played a critical role in our success, and more importantly, that of our clients. Her work throughout Port Townsend and Jefferson County has created countless memories for our program participants and we’re a better organization for her presence. We asked Liz about some highlights from her past year. See her responses below.

Lindsay is volunteering at New Image where she had relationships with other volunteers and she also returned to regularly working out at Evergreen Fitness where she is now leg pressing 100 lbs!”

Judy took a couple friends with her to the Zoos in Seattle and Tacoma and has softened the loneliness of her long vacation by accessing Community Engagement services via Zoom.”

Yaeko gained mobility after accomplishing her physical therapy goals and has begun CI where she is volunteering each week at the food bank.”

Larry has transitioned his bingo passion from CES support trips to Hilltop Tavern bingo to weekly bingo outings with a long-time friend from high school which frees up his CE hours for new community activities. Larry also accomplished his goal to do a police ride along with CE support.”

Jesse is not only volunteering at the food bank on a weekly basis but he is very enthusiastic about it.”

James used Specialized Habilitation Services to tackle some personal challenges and ended up more empowered and happier.”
